For the first time in its 60-year history, Kartell will pay homage to one of the most iconic, and perhaps uncharacteristic, pieces in its archive with the reissue of Joe Colombo's 4801 Armchair. Originally designed by the Italian master in 1965, the 4801 chair is famous for being the only Kartell piece ever to be made entirely of wood. Now, nearly fifty years later, Kartell has developed the complex and technically challenging engineering methods necessary to produce the design as Joe Colombo originally envisioned, in its signature plastic. To celebrate the release of the chair, Kartell has released the Joe Colombo 4801 chair in three colors: transparent, white and black.

The Colombo 4801 armchair was designed by the Italian space age designer Joe Colombo for Kartell in 1963. Known for being one of Italy's most influential and innovative furniture designers, many of Joe Colombo's furniture designs have received wide acclaim for being beautiful and functional. This iconic modern chair has won various design awards and has appeared in the collections of many renowned museums. The ultra-modern Joe Colombo 4801 armchair is a true Italian modern design classic and perhaps one of the most daring chairs ever created. In his groundbreaking design for Kartell, Joe Colombo transformed a regular chaise lounge chair into a fluid, sculptural form. The Joe Colombo 4801 armchair is one of the most significant design pieces of the 20th century. A beautiful addition for the bedroom, living room, lobby or office. The Joe Colombo 4801 armchair can also be used as an accent piece when placed in a corner of the living room, study, bed room and the home office. This beautiful space age design chair has great charm and striking visual appeal. It will bring a touch of elegance and style to any interior space.
