The Oxford 3241 low back lounge chair with un-upholstered arms, fixed height and fixed toes was designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen in Denmark. A remarkably comfortable lounge chair with a low back. Polished aluminum arms and swivels a 360 degree on it's base. Fixed height with the rubber toes on the satin polished aluminum base keep the chair sturdily in one place. A perfect executive lounge chair for an office setting. The Oxford 3241 low back lounge chair is available in a large variety of Fabric upholstery as well as Leather upholstery.
The Oxford Lounge chair was introduced in 2005 as part of the exclusive Oxford series designed by Arne Jacobsen. The original version of the Oxford chair was designed in 1963 for the professors at St. Catherine’s College in Oxford. The chair’s extra tall back served as a symbol of prestige and created a space of its own. The “professor’s chair” later evolved into the iconic Oxford series. When the Dean of St. Catherine’s College chose Arne Jacobsen to build an extension for the college, he was also commissioned to design the surrounding landscape and a furniture series for the college. This groundbreaking example of total design is, today, considered Arne Jacobsen’s most outstanding work.
