Original Butterfly Japanese Sori Yanagi Stool - Yanagi Butterfly Stool - The Butterfly Stool was designed by Sori Yanagi for Vitra. An elegant design that will compliment a variety of environments. Although the Yanagi Butterfly Stool was first created in 1954, it has modern charm. Its sinuous lines evoke butterfly wings, yet at a certain angle, it is as if a whale is diving back into the ocean.

ORIGINAL BUTTERFLY JAPANESE SORI YANAGI STOOL - YANAGI BUTTERFLY STOOL - To design the Butterfly Stool, Yanagi combined his Eastern influences with a special technique created by Ray and Charles Eames of bending and shaping plywood. Yanagi simply inverted two L-shaped pieces of rosewood plywood and braced them together using brass hardware. The concept is effortless, yet its presentation is rather bold. Nature has made it so every section of wood is unalike, therefore each stool is an individual.
